Introduction:

Air conditioning and cooling units have a specific calculation of efficiency that specifies the cooling power provided by the unit at a specific temperature of the air entering the system. The higher the inlet air temperature, the higher the power consumption required for the necessary cooling capacity. The average decrease of air temperature by 1°C improves the efficiency of air conditioning and cooling units by 1.8%. With the use of the adiabatic pre-cooling misting system, the temperature of the air entering air conditioning and cooling units drops by an average of 10 – 20°C, resulting in energy savings of up to 30%.

How it works

Evaporative cooling takes advantage of the potential of the outside to absorb moisture, which results in a temperature reduction of the air stream. When evaporative cooling is used for pre-cooling condenser inlet air, the condenser operates at a lower temperature than a baseline air-cooled condenser and needs less power demand and electricity to meet the cooling demand

The relative humidity is the amount

of moisture in the air compared to the

amount of moisture the air could absorb

at the same temperature, is a crucial factor

in determining cooling potential.

The lower the relative humidity,

the more water can be vaporized,

and the more heat can be removed.

Evaporative Cooling can be used effectively

in most geographical locations.

This is because when temperatures reach their peak during the day, humidity is normally at its lowest point.

In air conditioning systems, condensing units reject heat from refrigerants directly into the outside air stream.

In these systems, higher outside air temperatures result in higher energy use by the compressors.

As a result, as the outdoor air temperature rises, the efficiency of the air conditioning system drops and requires more energy to provide the same amount of cooling to the conditioned space.

To compound this issue, more space cooling is necessary on days when the outdoor air temperature is higher, due to the increased heat load on the building.

Applying a water fogging system to air-cooled chillers can improve efficiency under most working conditions, as the water mist could lower the air temperature entering the condenser.

System Components
